Wofford's Tract

Known as the Four Mile Purchase, William Wofford, grandfather of The Civil War general, used his Washington connections to have the United States purchase the land in the Cherokee Nation that Georgia had given him for his service in the Revolution. More Georgia History



Christmas at the Vann House
Perhaps North Georgia's first Christmas occurred in the Cherokee Nation at the Vann House in 1805. Today the state park rangers faithfully recreate that first Christmas in the Cherokee Nation with the Moravians. More North Georgia State Parks, More Christmas in North Georgia.



Old Federal Road Route
From the Federal Crossing (or Vann's Ferry) to Ross's Landing (today's Chattanooga) the Federal Road carried settlers, gold miners and workers into the Cherokee Nation and spanned the North Georgia Mountains for travelers to Nashville. More North Georgia Roads
