Gold Panning
About North Georgia

My 6 yr old son is extremely interested in panning for gold. Do you have any info on somewhere he could give it a try. I have told him that the chances for actually finding some were rare. Thank you for any help you could offer. We will be in your area soon.

Sure. The chances are actually not that rare with a good panning technique. There are active, non-commercial sites on the Chestatee west of 400/19 towards Dahlonega and I understand the Yahoola is also good. You can try Dukes Creek anywhere south of Duke's Creek Falls. This is the actual location of the first gold found in North Georgia by Frank Logan.
