Shortly after the end of the French and Indian War in 1763, American patriots began to resent English control of their affairs. Operating in loose-knit groups under a variety of names, these people resisted attempts by Britain to unfairly tax commerce. In Georgia, The Sons of Liberty resisted the Stamp Tax in 1765. Early radical resistance such as this emboldened Americans throughout the 13 colonies...
