Georgia Walks
by Ren and Helen Davis

Long-time contributing editors to Georgia Journal, Ren and Helen Davis book Georgia Walks takes you on hikes throughout the state, and not just in the woods. Sure, some of our favorite GeorgiaTrails.com trails are in the book, but what really distinguishes this entry is the small town and urban trails that Ren and Helen have lovingly crafted. The writing is brisk and to the point, the directions are flawless and the information is accurate and interesting.
The Hiking Trails of North Georgia
by Tim Homan

If you are looking for the most accurate trail lengths for north Georgia trails, Tim is the place to go. Even North Georgia expert Fred Brown uses his figures for length. Tim wrote the descriptions for the 1982 Chattahoochee National Forest pamphlet that was our first introduction to North Georgia 15 years ago. We still have and cherish that pamphlet although it is woefully outdated. Tim constantly updates the guide, so be sure to get the newest version, not something that has been sitting on a shelf for 2 or three years(this is his most recent book).
The Best of the Appalachian Trail:Day Hikes
by Frank and Victoria Logue

We love this book. As we have grown older most of the hiking we do is day-long hikes and Frank and Victoria Logue have written a winner. This book, along with Tim's and Fred's were a major inspiration for these trail pages(Mr. Pfizer's came later). Each of the Georgia AT hikes are great, from personal experience, and while we haven't done many of the hikes to the north, we look forward to enjoying them in the future.
Georgia Outdoors
by Frank and Victoria Logue

A must have for North Georgia enthusiasts, this book features many highlights of the mountains. Especially handy for campers, since it lists campgrounds across the region.
Hiking Georgia
by Donald Pfizer

Great since it covers all of Georgia, and not just the north Georgia mountains. The maps are also better.
Appalachian Trail Fun Book
by Frank and Victoria Logue

Have a youngster that you are just introducing to camping? Frank and Victoria Logue do and in this outing they share some of the things that Griffin found exciting! Well written and extremely useful for those with pre-teens. Mazes, games, and things to do while hiking.
The Georgia Conservancy's Guide to the North Georgia Mountains
by Fred Brown, et al

Fred "invented" North Georgia in the late 70's with his famous guides and is currently working on a book about the Chattahoochee. We have to give him a nod for the pioneer work he did and promote the Georgia Conservancy for the fine work they do. This is a excellent book, containing a lot of information not available anywhere else. The major problem is the book was published in 1991 so, unfortunately, the information can be dated.
