Foxfire 10by George P. Reynolds, Susan Walker, Eliot Wigginton (Editor) Mr. Wigginton's desire to motivate English students at Rabun Gap-Nachoochee School led to these Foxfire books, and the last of the series is one of our favorites. It includes a detailed description of The Tallulah Falls Railroad, among other things.Bikin the Trails of Rabun by Lester Ramey While we aren't mountain bikers, Mr. Ramey is, and the book includes details on biking to some of the best views in the state. The Rabun County Outdoors Companion by Brian A. Boyd Mr. Boyd has been a prolific writer about this corner of the state. This is one of our favorites. He has written about many of the lesser known, lesser populated hikes in the county as well as the most popular ones. Our favorite chapter -- Chattooga River.Deliverance by James Dickey No Rabun County bookstore would be complete without the book that made James Dickey, and Rabun County, famous. The thinly veiled fictional thriller was based on the county's Chattooga River.Deliverance by Burt Reynolds Already read the book? Watch the movie. The beautiful scenery, spine-tingling adventure, and Jon Voight's climb up the walls of Tallulah Gorge make this one of the best movies of all time. |
