The rebuilding of the South, especially North Georgia

Reconstruction
Georgia suffered through three Reconstructions

Recommended Reading

After Appomattox : How the South Won the War
by Stetson Kennedy

A different look at Reconstruction. Kennedy sets out to support his theory that the South won because the North withdrew forces and let the South institute "Jim Crow" laws and the KKK. Interesting premise, but it falls a little short.
Black Politicians and Reconstruction in Georgia : A Splendid Failure
by Edmund L. Drago

Relates the story of the 37 Negro delegates to the Georgia Constitutional Convention.
Era of Reconstruction, 1865-1877
by Kenneth M. Stampp

Written in the '60's and the age tends to creep through at points, but in all a good retelling of the era.
