Return to IndexWayne is currently writing A Cartridge Box and Forty Rounds, a history of the 15th Army Corps, Army of the Tennessee.
His wife's greatgrandfather served with General Sherman during all Georgia operations. Wounded in the battle of Chattanooga he rejoined the 40th Illinois at the battle of Resaca and saw action at Atlanta, Savannah, Columbia and Raleigh.
Born in June, 1932, Mr. Bengston studied at the University of Michigan before working towards a doctorate at Michigan State. His broad range of interests include history, genealogy, flying, travel and golf.
"Education goes on from the womb to the tomb"(This saying was taken from my guru, Professor Ralph Wenrich of the University of Michigan now retired). Wayne lives in Flushing, Michigan with his wife of 34 years.
