- Vivid recreation of the most famous chase in railroad history. Boarding The General at Big Shanty (now Kennesaw, GA.), men under the command of James Andrews steal the train and begin The Great Locomotive Chase.
- Sweet Home Alabama -
- Many of the "Alabama" scenes are well-known to Georgians because most of them aren't in Alabama, but Georgia.
- Remember the Titans -
- This beautiful movie about race relations in 1971 Alexandria, Virgina was filmed in Covington, Atlanta (including Oglethorpe College), Rome (Berry College), Marietta (city history) and Sprayberry High School
- Breaking Away -
- This 1980-81 TV show featured Shaun Cassidy, Vincent Gardenia and Barbara Barrie and was shot in Athens, Georgia
- Smokey and the Bandit -
- Burt Reynolds, Sally Fields and Jackie Gleason filmed this tribute to Coors beer in Redan, Stone Mountain and a very rural Highway 316
- The Dukes of Hazard -
- This popular TV show from the 1970's was partially filmed in Covington, Georgia
- I'll Fly Away -
- Law and Order's Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) played DA Forrest Bedford whose increasing involvement in civil rights cases in the late 1950's poses problems for his family. Filmed in Conyers and Atlanta.
- In the Heat of the Night -
- Carroll O'Conner played Chief Bill Gillespie as co-star Howard E. Rollins, Jr. and son Hugh O'Conner battled local law enforcement officials over their individual drug problems. Filmed in Covington, Georgia.
- Mosquito Coast (Buy the movie)
- Harrison Ford and River Phoenix star in this film about leaving a materialistic world for a third world country. The opening shots include Rome (history of Rome, GA) and Cartersville (history of Cartersville, GA).
- Cobb -
- Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Wuhl starred in this film about "The Georgia Peach." A portion of the movie was shot in Royston, Georgia, Ty Cobb's hometown
- Deliverance -
- Dramatic, fictionalized account based on a true story, was filmed at Tallulah Gorge and along the Chattooga River. Starring John Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty, and Ronny Cox
- Dutch -
- Modestly successful comedy featured location scenes from Berry College and Rome, Georgia
- Independence Day -
- Blockbuster Sci-fi movie had some scenes that were shot in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
- I'd Climb the Highest Mountain -
- Big screen treatment of the Corra Harris novel of the same name featured on location filming in Helen, Georgia. Starred Susan Hayward, William Lundigan, and Rory Calhoun.
- Little Darlings -
- Tatum O'Neal and Kristy McNichol are teens who think they are attracted to an older camp counselor. Shot in Hard Labor Creek State Park, Rutledge, Georgia. Also starring Armand Assante, Matt Dillon and Nicolas Coster.
- Miss Evers Boys -
- The 1997 Emmy-award winning HBO movie was shot in Covington, Porterdale and Atlanta, Georgia. Starred Alfie Woodward, Laurence Fishburne and Craig Sheffer.
- My Cousin Vinny -
- Most people are suprised to find that this story about a New Yorker's visit to an Alabama town was shot in Monticello and the State Prison in Alto, both of which are Georgia towns.
- The Night the Lights went out in Georgia -
- Movie taken from the song of the same name was shot in Chattanooga and Dade County's Trenton. Starred Kristy McNichol, Dennis Quaid and Mark Hamill
- The Offspring -
- Dalton, the carpet capital of the world played host to Vincent Price, Clu Gulager, Terry Kiser and Rosalind Cash for the filming of this sci-fi anthology film in 1986.
- Stars and Bars -
- This 1988 film starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Harry Dean Stanton, Joan Cusack, and Will Patton was filmed in Tallapoosa, Crawfordville, Clarkesville and Dallas, Georgia.
