From the small parking lot on Helton Creek Road head to the right to find the trailhead. This trail descends quickly to a mountain cove, then to the creekbed and the first falls are immediately visible, down a fairly steep and well-used set of stairs.
The Cherokee name for this part of North Georgia translates roughly into "land of a thousand waterfalls" and Helton Creek has two of the best. The first washes over a thirty foot ledge, cascading to the pool below the falls with a roar that can be heard almost to the road. Returnin up the stairs, follow the trail around the right and up a embankment to the second falls. These are tall, full falls that drop at least fifty feet. For ardent hikers, plan on combining the walk with at another hike, as this is a short, easy walk.
